A board does the hosting with you.

The easiest table to set is the one with a fixed point. Put the board down first — everything else arranges itself around the weight in the middle.

Stone holds temperature, which is most of its usefulness: cold for butter and cheese, room temperature for bread. Let it sit out; it belongs on the table, not in the cupboard.
